Byte is an at-home clear aligner brand created by a Los Angeles-based company. Byte is one of the leading companies in the clear aligner market thanks to their unique cutting-edge technology.

With the possibility of cutting treatment time in half, it is no wonder that people who want to address their orthodontic issues with invisible braces are curious about how much does Byte clear aligners cost.

Here, we give you the full details about the cost of Byte and the payment options that you can have to help make Byte clear aligners more affordable for you.

How much does Byte cost?

Byte has two main types of treatments: the All-day Byte system and the At-night Byte system.

The All-day system is the clear aligners that you have to wear at least 22 hours a day. The one-time payment for this treatment is $1895.

The At-night Byte system is only worn at night for 10 hours a day, after your dinner and while you sleep. The one-time payment for this treatment is $2295.

Now, you may think these prices are steep but if you check other brands, it is actually one of the most affordable clear aligners in the market that offers high-quality services and results.

Byte is also the leading brand when it comes to teledentistry and technology involved in clear aligners. With these prices, you are getting a lot of value.

How to pay for Byte treatment

Aside from the upfront payment options, there are other ways to pay for your Byte treatment in a way that will be lighter in your pocket. Check out the following options:

Monthly installment plan through BytePay

If you are unable to pay upfront, you can go with BytePay, Byte’s monthly installment payment plan.

If you go for Byte all-day aligners, you will be asked for a downpayment of $249. Then, you get to pay an amount of $82 per month for the next 32 months.

If you go for Byte at-night clear aligners, you have to give a downpayment of $299. Then, you will be paying $99 per month for the next 32 months.

The best thing about BytePay is that everyone is 100% approved so you can still avail of it even if you have a low credit score.

Byte payments through insurance

If your dental insurance plan gives you coverage for orthodontic benefits, then your insurance can pay for invisible aligners like Byte.

Take note though that Byte will not accept direct payment from insurance companies so if you choose this path, you are more likely to shell out the money first and then get your money back through reimbursement from your insurance provider.

Byte can make the process easier for you by processing the forms you need to file your claim. Just contact them to see if your insurance qualifies.

Most medical insurances consider clear aligner treatments as more of a cosmetic treatment. If your insurance does not cover orthodontic benefits or does not cover clear aligners, you may still be able to get some coverage if you can prove that getting Byte aligners is a medical necessity.

Now you may be wondering how much coverage you can get from dental insurance? This greatly depends on the type of insurance plan that you have and who is your insurance provider.

Dental plans can cover a maximum of 50% of the orthodontic treatment. While for some, they go with a lifetime limit of $1500.

It helps to reach out to your insurance provider first to see what coverage you may have before starting treatment so that there will be no surprises along the way.

Byte payments through HSA

If you have a health insurance plan with a deductible of $1350 and above (single insurance plan; $2700 and above deductible if family plan), then you most likely have health savings account or HSA. People with a high deductible in their insurance policy get to qualify for an HSA.

Your HSA is pre-tax money deducted from your salary every month. The money that you can get from your HSA can be used to help pay for your Byte aligners.

The best thing about it is that the money in your HSA can be rolled over to the next year so the amount you have can add up to cover the entire cost of your treatment if you have not used your HSA in a while.

Byte payments through FSA

A flexible spending account (FSA) works similarly to an HSA. The money is also pre-tax and deducted from your monthly salary.

But unlike in an HSA, the money in your FSA will not roll over to the next year. So, the money in your FSA will reset back to zero every start of the year whether you have used up all your money or not.

So, if you have an FSA, you must spend it before the year ends. You can use the money in your FSA in combination with your HSA money to pay for your treatment.

Byte payments through Affirm

Affirm is an online financing company that helps its members pay for large purchases like teeth straightening treatments using invisible braces.

You may be wondering why you would go for a third-party financer when Byte has BytePay? This is a good option if you could not afford the monthly payments of BytePay.

With Affirm, you have a say on how much you pay monthly and for how long you would want to make the monthly payments. Affirm will break down your total treatment cost into a flexible monthly payment plan that will work for your budget.

The best thing about paying with Affirm is that there are no late payment fees or surprise fees that you have to worry about.

But there is a catch – you will have to pass a soft credit check to use Affirm to pay for Byte. So if you have a poor credit score, BytePay may just be the only option for you.

Once you pass the credit check and you can set up your account, all you have to do is choose the Affirm option when you check out on the Byte website. Affirm will take care of the rest for you.

Take note though that not everyone can sign up for Affirm. You have to be 18 years old or older to sign up (19 years old or older if you are in Alabama or Nebraska). Affirm also does not cater to residents of West Virginia and Iowa.

Affirm also has a couple of requirements. You need to have a valid US home address and a valid US mobile number or VoIP number that is registered in your name. They will also be asking for your date of birth, email address, full name, and the last 4 digits of your social security number for identity verification.

Byte payments through CareCredit

CareCredit is a healthcare credit card that can help pay the out-of-pocket costs of your healthcare expenses – especially for those treatments that are not covered by your insurance. So this is an option to look into if you do not have insurance coverage but you need help with Byte aligners cost.

Of course, you have to make sure that the doctor or business that you want to use your CareCredit card for is affiliated with CareCredit. In Byte’s case, they are affiliated and recommends it along with Affirm as third-party payment options for its users.

If you do not have a CareCredit card yet, you can apply through their website or call their toll-free number. You can also apply in person if there is a CareCredit retail location near you.

The good thing about a CareCredit card is that it does not expire. As long as you still have credits available, you can use them anywhere, anytime. But you still have to use your CareCredit card at least once a year to make sure that your account is considered active.

Byte payment through personal loan

If you are a financially responsible person, your bank statements will back you up and give you good credit reports. Having good credit helps you qualify for different types of loans easily and for some loaners, a good credit score can also get you low interest rates.

You can take advantage of your good credit score and approach your bank to take out a personal loan. Banks have a lesser interest rate compared to financing or credit companies so it should be the first place you turn to when getting a loan.

If you want to get your loan from another finance provider, the second-best option you should look into is a medical loan provider or company. Since you are getting a loan for orthodontic treatment, they may have the best rates to offer.

How much is the Byte impression kit?

The Byte impression kit is available on their official website for $95. Once you purchase the impression kit, all you have to do is wait for it to be delivered. It usually takes a week or less to get your impression kit, depending on your location.

Once you have the kit, take your impressions at home then mail them back to Byte using provided prepaid return shipping box. Take note that shipping is free as long as you send your impressions within 3 days of receiving the kit. If you do not have the time to mail back the impressions, you can schedule a USPS pick-up.

If the orthodontist that assesses your impressions determines that your dental case could not be handled by Byte aligners, you will be able to receive a full refund for the money you spent on the impression kit.

If you qualify for treatment but you do not want to pursue it, this is also okay. You will not get a refund but you will not be obliged to start the treatment just because you already bought the impression.

How do I use Byte promo codes?

Byte offers promotional codes from time to time and these promo codes can be found in a lot of websites online.

But these promo codes can only be used if you pay for your Byte aligners with a credit or debit card, CareCredit, Affirm, or your FSA and HSA. Take note that these promo codes can not be combined. You can only use one promo code per transaction.

If you are using BytePay for your Byte aligners, promotional codes can not be used.

Do Byte offer discounts?

Byte does offer different discounts for its users.

For one, Byte has a special package for those who are working in the military and for veterans.

Byte also has a separate package for college and graduate students.

To avail of these discounts, you have to contact Byte directly.

Byte alternatives

If the cost of Byte does not fit your budget, do not worry! You can still have straighter teeth without having to go through traditional braces. Here is a list of alternatives that you should check out aside from Byte.

Take note though that these at-home clear aligners may not work as well as Byte does but if you only have a mild orthodontic issue to worry about then they can just be as effective.

AlignerCo

AlignerCo offers an all-day clear aligner treatment for an upfront payment of $1145 for daytime aligners and $1345 for nighttime aligners.

The impression kit costs $75. If there is an AlignerCo Smile Studio in your location, you can simply make an appointment and have them do your impressions.

AlignerCo has an average treatment time of 4 to 6 months for daytime aligners. The nighttime aligners have an average treatment time of 6 to 8 months.

NewSmile

NewSmile has an average treatment time of 4 to 6 months for daytime aligners and 8 to 10 months for nighttime aligners.

SmileDirectClub

SmileDirectClub offers both day and night aligners, just like Byte does. The price for both treatments is the same at $1950. The price is higher compared to Byte for daytime aligners but is cheaper than the cost of Byte when it comes to nighttime aligners.

The impression kit costs $59. You can also check if there is a Smile Shop in your location so you do not have to shell out money for an impression kit. Your impressions can be done on location and they will be the one to send them to the lab.

SmileDirectClub has an average treatment time of 4 to 6 months, depending on the severity of your case.

Byte FAQs

How much does Byte actually cost?

Here is a clear breakdown of the money you are actually spending if you go with the upfront payment for All-day aligners:

Impression Kit ($95) plus Byte All day aligners (1895) = $1990

If you want to get the Byte protection plan, all you have to do is add $649 for a total of $2639.

When you think about it, the cost of Byte is a pretty affordable price compared to getting Invisalign or traditional braces!

How to start Byte treatment?

To start your treatment plan with Byte, you have to check first if you qualify for treatment. Clear aligners are not for everyone so Byte will have to check if your dental conditions can be treatable by their clear aligners before clearing you for treatment.

Take note that Byte clear aligners are only able to handle minor to moderate cases of teeth misalignment. Severe cases may require traditional braces, headgear, or surgery. You also need to have good oral health to qualify for treatment. If you have issues like cavities or gum disease, you will be rejected for treatment.

You have to start with a Byte impression kit, which you can order from their website. The Byte impression kit costs $95. If you do not qualify for treatment, you will be given a full refund.

Unfortunately, Byte does not have a physical location so you have no choice but to make the impressions yourself. The good news is that the Byte impression kit comes with enough material to make two sets of impressions – if you mess up in your first attempt, you still get a second chance to do it right.

The impression kit also has a detailed pamphlet with step-by-step instructions that is clear to understand. Getting a good impression is important so that your Byte aligners will be the right fit. When in doubt, you can call customer service and someone will walk you through the steps over the phone.

Your impressions should be sent back to Byte where their team of dental professionals will assess them. If you qualify for treatment, a licensed orthodontist or dentist will be assigned to you. The dental professional will then create a personalized treatment plan for you.

That treatment plan will be presented to you online along with a preview of what your teeth would look like throughout the treatment and end of treatment. You will have to improve this treatment plan before they start creating your aligner trays.

Once the treatment plan gets approved, all you have to do is wait for your Byte package to arrive on your doorstep. It will take about 4 to 6 weeks for you to receive the package, depending on where you are located.

What is included in the Byte treatment package?

You will be receiving all the aligners you need from the start to the end of your treatment plan in one package. The package will be delivered directly to your doorstep once the lab is done making your aligner trays.

Aside from the clear aligners, the treatment package includes the HyperByte device. This is Byte’s unique device that helps cut your treatment time in half, which you will be required to use up to 5 minutes each day.

The package will also include a free bottle of BrightByte. This is Byte’s 3-in-1 whitening treatment solution that you can use as a breath freshener, teeth whitener, and cleaner. This means you do not only get to have straighter and better-looking teeth, but you also get to have a whitening treatment, have fresher breath, and get to clean your aligner trays easily at the same time.

The package also includes your first set of custom retainers. This is a good thing as not all brands in the market do not include this in your package. Retainers are very important after treatment to ensure that you get to keep your straighter smile longer.

How is Byte’s provider network?

Byte works with licensed orthodontists and dentists and the provider network is known to be a very exclusive list. Byte only associates themselves with the best dental professionals who are well-trained in teledentistry and who have a stellar reputation in their local communities.

What is the HyperByte device?

The HyperByte device is Byte’s FDA-approved, patented technology that helps cut your treatment time by half, improve teeth movement accuracy, and helps reduce any discomfort you feel when you are adjusting to a new aligner tray. No matter what type of aligner you are getting, you will get this smart device in the package.

If you find yourself having a hard time fitting the next aligner tray in your treatment plan, you can use the HyperByte device to seat the aligner comfortably.

Take note that you only get to cut your treatment time in half if you use the HyperByte device every day. It is advised that you use it for 5 minutes if you are using the all-day aligners and 10 minutes if you are using the at-night aligners. But it is also important that you do not overdo it.

What is the Byte protection plan?

The Byte protection plan gives you additional coverage after your treatment ends. It covers 5 years’ worth of retainers and coverage for lost aligners during treatment.

Through the Byte protection plan, you will be getting a new retainer every 6 months. This is the recommended time dental professionals would advise you to replace your retainers for hygienic purposes.

If you need clear aligner replacements during your Byte treatment, the treatment plan will cover replacements up to a value of $2000.

Take note that the Byte protection plan is not refundable. If you have it added to your Byte treatment, there will be no way to have it removed.

If you want to avail of the Byte Protection Plan, this will be included for free if you choose to pay through the monthly installment. But if you choose to pay upfront, you have to pay an additional $649 to include the Byte Protection Plan in your Byte treatment if you have been using the all-day teeth aligners and $779 if you have been using the at-night teeth aligners.

All-day aligners vs. at-night aligners?

Both treatments work the same way. The major difference lies in the number of hours you have to wear them.

As mentioned earlier, the all-day aligners have to be worn for at least 22 hours a day. Because you are wearing them most of the day, the treatment time is shorter.

The night aligners should be worn for at least 10 hours each night. Because you are wearing the aligners less, the treatment time is longer.

People prefer night aligners because they are more convenient. You only wear them at home after you eat your dinner and while you are sleeping. You barely have to deal with them at all!

But if you want faster and more effective treatment, the all-day aligners are your best bet. It will take more discipline on your part because you have to take them off every time you drink and eat something and have to take care and clean them every time you take the aligner trays off but it is worth it in the end.

The bottom line is that it all depends on your preference or lifestyle in the end. If your job entails you to talk a lot or meet a lot of people during the day then you may prefer night aligners.

If you are pretty much disciplined and responsible enough and you want a faster treatment, daytime aligners is the best option for you.

How long does Byte aligner treatment take?

Because of the HyperByte device, Byte has a shorter treatment time compared to other brands in the market.

Traditional braces can take up to 24 or more months to straighten your teeth. High-end brand Invisalign takes 12 to 18 months to fix your teeth.

Byte takes just 3 to 6 months to deal with your orthodontic problem. Byte All-day aligners average treatment time is 3 months while for at-night aligners, the average treatment time is 6 months.

Of course, this all depends on your discipline. You have to wear your Byte aligners for the recommended number of hours per day and you have to use the HyperByte device as instructed.

What are Byte aligners made of?

Byte’s aligners are made out of a highly transparent BPA-free, medical-grade polymer film material. The aligners have a smooth texture so they are comfortable on your teeth.

Despite its transparent appearance, the material is very durable. In fact, the aligners are tear-resistant and are strong enough to force your teeth to move into position.

Byte aligners also are straight cut. Some might think that aligners that follow the contours of the gum may look better. Although this may be true, a straight cut actually gives a better grip on your teeth, which is the most important thing in invisible braces.

The grip must be tight enough to force the teeth to move gently. This is the key to a successful teeth alignment when it comes to invisible aligners.

Is Byte worth the money?

High-quality invisible braces do not come cheap. But Byte offers quality in an affordable package so you get more value from the money that you pay them. Plus the Byte package has more items included compared to the packages of other brands.

Byte does not only take good care of you during treatment but also after your treatment ends. With the Byte for Life guarantee, you can fix your smile for free if your teeth shifts back to its original place. Make sure to check the website for the conditions you need to retain to avoid losing your Byte for Life guarantee.

In the end, Byte is an aligner system that you should go for if you do not want to compromise the quality of your treatment.

Can anyone get Byte treatment?

As mentioned before, the aligner system is really not for everyone. The Byte aligner system in particular can only handle mild to moderate orthodontic issues.

You can be rejected for treatment if your issues are too severe for Byte to handle. In this case, you may be asked to consider stronger treatment such as Invisalign, traditional metal braces or surgery.

Also, you will be required to have good dental health in order to qualify for treatment. This means that you should not have any cavities, gum diseases, or other dental issues.

If you do, you will be rejected for treatment and be advised to deal with these issues first before you get invisible braces.

Conclusion

Byte offers invisible braces that are convenient, removable, and comes with the high-tech HyperByte device.

Unlike metal braces that come with a lot of obvious wires and brackets, Byte aligners are hardly visible in your mouth. And with the HyperByte device, your treatment may end quicker than expected.

Straight teeth and a beautiful smile can open up a lot of doors for you. While you are okay just the way you are, no one will blame you if you want to improve the way you look. After all, straightening your teeth is the same as improving your dental health.

Now that you know how much Byte costs and your options when it comes to paying for treatment, it is clear to see that Byte treatment is not that out of reach for you.
