However, it is no secret that orthodontic dental procedure comes with pain and discomfort, not to mention they take several months to complete, along with a long list of dos and don’ts throughout the treatment. This is where cosmetic dentistry procedure like veneers comes in – to provide a quick and effective cosmetic restoration solution. As with other dental services, however, the cost for veneers differs from one place to another.

If you live in Ohio, then this is entry is for you. Here’s a breakdown of different veneers cost Ohio.

Veneers cost Ohio

You can expect to pay around $200 to $1,500 per tooth for a veneer treatment in Columbus, Ohio. Obviously, the price can be a little more expensive if you opt to get the treatment in bigger and more populated cities like Columbus, than in less populated cities like Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Dayton. Still, this is more affordable compared to the national average of $925 to $2,500 per tooth, according to American Dental Association (ADA).

Composite resin veneers, which are the most affordable material for making veneers, range from around $200 to $1,500 per tooth. Premium high-quality materials like porcelain veneers cost significantly more expensive, as their price can go from $950 to $2,500 per tooth.

Moreover, the overall cost of the treatment depends on a number of factors, such as the number of veneers used for the treatment, type, and material of veneers, etc. On average, a patient usually chooses to get four to six veneers for a brighter smile. That means a typical veneer treatment in Ohio will cost around $4,200 to $6,300. That is a little cheaper than the national average of $400 to $2,500 per tooth.

A full mouth veneer (the whole set of veneers) can cost between $10,000 and $40,000 or more in Ohio.

So, why choose veneers?

A veneer is one of the many available modern dental restoration techniques in cosmetic dentistry. Often referred to as “instant orthodontics” dental veneers offer a fast and efficient smile makeover; it can give anyone a brighter smile through a whiter and straighter set of teeth, faster than any traditional orthodontic treatment available today. It can correct discolored teeth for instant teeth whitening, correct chipped or cracked teeth, or even put right minor teeth spacing issues (by closing teeth gaps), correct crooked teeth, or misaligned teeth problems, and even protect and save weakened or decayed teeth from further damage.

Veneers are actually thin layers of tooth-colored material designed to cover the front surface of the teeth to improve the look of the teeth. They are bonded to the front of the teeth, changing the color, shape, length, and overall appearance of the teeth for the better.

Each dental veneer procedure and treatment plan is customized to every patient, and each dental veneer is individually-sculpted to give the appearance of a natural and beautiful set of teeth. Unlike natural teeth, however, teeth veneers are specially designed to stay stain-proof for decades.

Different types of veneers

Veneer treatments are not as simple as laying the thin shell on the surface of the teeth. To keep its size and thickness natural, some steps and dental preparation need to be done to allow the veneer to stick to the surface of the teeth. This is where the initial consultation with the cosmetic dentist comes in.

During the initial consultation, the dentist will check the situation of your teeth, from their color, shape, size, and overall general health. While many patients will only need a couple of appointments, the treatment involves multiple phases that require patients to visit the dental office several times throughout the process. This includes preparation and assessment of the tooth structure, shaving off some enamel from the teeth to fit the veneers, getting teeth and mouth impressions to make the veneers, and wearing temporary veneers while waiting for the permanent veneers, attaching, etc. The entire process typically takes up to six weeks.

It is also during the initial consultation that the patient can decide which type of veneers to get.

Composite resin veneers

The composite material of composite resin veneers is the cheapest in the market. It requires a shorter application process and can solve a wide range of damaged teeth problems, from misshapen teeth (chipped or cracked), discoloration, etc.

However, the material is considered weaker compared to porcelain and will need replacement or repair more frequently. Composite veneers typically last 5 to 7 years, some can go up to 10 years.

Direct composite resin veneers

Direct composite resin veneers can be applied straight to the surface of the teeth. Your dentist will start by thoroughly cleaning and removing a thin layer of enamel to help the adhesive material stick to your teeth. The procedure is minimally invasive and can be completed in one session.

Indirect composite resin veneers

Material-wise, indirect composite resin veneers are similar to their direct counterpart. Their main difference is in the application process.

With indirect composite resin veneers, the teeth are prepped to accommodate the veneers. This means it requires a thorough examination along with a dental laboratory. Your dentist will then perform enamel removal to make room for the veneers, as well as reshape chipped or cracked teeth. You will then get temporary veneers until the indirect composite resin veneers are ready. Your dentist will then apply a layer of adhesive and high-intensity light to bond and secure the veneers to your teeth.

Porcelain

Porcelain veneers are custom-fit to each tooth; this means they can provide the most natural-looking teeth and can fix even the darkest stained teeth for a perfect smile. Also, porcelain material is so much stronger and less likely to chip. However, this also means the treatment process takes much longer and definitely costs more.

The process starts with the dentists taking impressions of your mouth and teeth. The veneers will then be made from the mold in a dental lab. Some dental offices use digital impressions for a more precious mold. This process alone can take a couple of weeks. You will also receive a set of temporary veneers while you wait for your permanent veneers.

When your porcelain veneers are ready, your dentist will use dental cement to bond the veneers to your teeth and reshape them to look as natural as possible.

Porcelain veneers can last for decades, as some can go as long as 10 to 20 years. Some can even last up to 30 years.

Lumineers

Lumineers isn’t exactly a different type of veneer, but a specific brand of porcelain veneer. Lumineers veneer shells are significantly thinner, meaning it requires minimal preparation than the traditional porcelain veneers. The biggest advantage of this is it requires less natural tooth enamel to be shaved off before its placement. That makes it a “reversible” veneer process, as it can be removed with little to no effect on the structure and integrity of the teeth. However, that also means it is a little more expensive than traditional veneers.

Lumineer veneers can also last up to 20 years or more.

Difference between veneers, dental crowns, and dental implants

All three dental procedures can improve the look of the teeth. But all three are very different dental procedures.

Veneers mainly cover the front surface of the teeth. This makes it a quick fix for cosmetic problems and instant teeth whitening solution.

Dental crowns however are used to fix severely damaged and broken teeth, especially teeth with little structure left. It can help strengthen the teeth and fix both their aesthetics and functionality.

Dental implants, on the other hand, are a more complex dental procedure that takes several months to complete. Usually performed by an orthodontist, a dental implant involves the use of titanium screws that are surgically attached to the jawbone. The metal acts as a post to hold the crown in the mouth. Implants are the best solution to missing tooth/teeth, as they look and work like natural teeth.

The Takeaway

Dental veneers are amazingly quick and efficient, long-term solutions to fix the appearance of a person’s teeth. They can quickly improve the color and shape of the teeth, fix and hide chips and cracks, whiten, reduce gaps, and correct minor damage to the teeth.

As with other dental procedures and treatments, veneer costs in Ohio vary greatly, from the type of materials used, the number of veneers, the dental service provider, and your geographical location. But as with most dental services, many dental offices and dentists offer payment plans to their clients to ease the hefty price of the procedure.
